When there is a disease, either the functioning or the appearance of one or more systems of the body will change for the worse. Diseases are of two types: Infectious diseases and non-Infectious diseases. We will also learn how infectious diseases like AIDS and Malaria are spread. Diseases are spread in many ways. Some are born in our bodies by drinking contaminated water and by eating spoiled food. By intake of antibiotics, such diseases can be cured.

In this virtual tour, we will explore the environments both in a village and a city and will learn how physical, social, and economic conditions can affect our general well-being and health. For a healthy life, we should try to stay physically and mentally fit and away from those factors that impact our well-being.

The disease generally has some Symptoms and Signs associated with it, for example, pain, swelling, and fever are some common symptoms. We call short-duration diseases acute diseases and long duration or lifelong diseases chronic diseases.

In this virtual tour, we will learn about AIDS: Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. AIDS is an infectious disease spread by unprotected sex with an infected partner, transfusion of infected blood, an infected mother to her baby during childbirth, and also during breastfeeding. AIDS is caused by the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus- HIV which mainly affects and weakens the immune system of the person. There is no medicine available so far to cure AIDS.

Malaria is caused by a protozoan parasite called Plasmodium. The malarial parasite is transmitted when an infected female Anopheles mosquito bites a person. As a result, the patient experiences chills and shivering along with a high fever. Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease.

Water-Borne diseases are conditions caused by pathogenic microorganisms that are transmitted through water. The disease can be spread while bathing, washing, drinking water, or eating food exposed to contaminated water. Examples are typhoid fever, cholera, and Hepatitis A or E.

Foodborne illness is caused by consuming contaminated foods or beverages. Diarrhea, cholera, food poisoning, thyroid, hepatitis A are some examples of foodborne diseases. Antibiotic is a drug used to treat bacterial infections. 

Antibiotics inhibit the protein synthesis in bacteria and cure disease. They are medications used to fight infections caused by bacteria. They don’t affect human cells. They treat infections by killing or decreasing the growth of bacteria.
