VR Tour For Std. 6 Ch. 7: Getting to Know Plants
What's Included in Virtual tour of this chapter
We are surrounded by greenery. Nature is vivid. There are a variety of plants and trees in nature. Some are short, some are huge, while some plants simply crawl over the walls and roofs. We will explore in this chapter different kinds of plants as well as basic information about different parts of plants. Each plant has different parts and each part of the plant has a definite task to do. The lowermost part of the plant is the root. Roots absorb water and minerals from the soil and hold the soil around to support the plant. Then we will study what role does stem and leaf play in a plant’s life cycle.
Virtual tour 1: Types of plants and parts of plant
We will have an understanding of which kind of plants are called, Shrubs, Trees, Climbers, and Creepers. To give you an overview of this virtual tour we will discuss plants’ roots and shoot. The shoot is made up of stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Each plant has different parts and each part of the plant has a definite task to do.
Virtual tour 2: Types of root- its structure and function
Plants are the production factories of oxygen on the Earth. Plants have various parts that have different functions. In this virtual tour, we will learn about the parts of a plant and their functions. We will begin from the lowermost part which is the root and what function does root play in a plant’s life cycle. Roots of a plant absorb the water and nutrients from the soil and provide it to the plant for food production.
Virtual tour 3: Structure and function of stem
In this virtual tour, we will understand how water is absorbed and transported in plants. The stem is the backbone of a plant. It transports food, water, and minerals all over the plant’s body.
Virtual tour 4: Structure and function of leaf
Leaf or we can better say, the kitchen of the plant is one of the most important parts of the plant. Leaf absorbs the sunlight, CO2, and minerals to manufacture food through the process of photosynthesis. Leaves in return release oxygen which is important for existence for humans.
Virtual tour 5: Structure and function of the flower
We will learn about the whole structure of the flower. The flower is actually an extension of the shoot which is meant for reproduction. Flowers are attractive and appear in different colors and shapes to attract pollinators like insects, butterflies, etc who help in pollen transfer. Flowers have four main parts: sepals, petals, stamens, and carpels. We will study these in detail in our virtual tour.
